Korea International Boat Show 10th Anniversary,

the biggest exhibition yet


- Beyond full capacity with 261 companies, 1,607 Booths, increasing wait-lists to participate

- Many Korean boat manufacturers participating

- Senior Purchasing personnels from Watski, the “Big Hand’ of Scandinavian marine industry, will be at KIBS




10th Korea International Boat Show(KIBS 2017), co-hosted by GyeongGi Province and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and organized by KINTEX(Korea International Exhibition Center), KOTRA(Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), Waterway Plus, will be held at KINTEX 3,4,5 Hall(32,157) in Goyang city and Ara Marina, Gimpo city from May 25th to 28th, 2017.

GyeongGi Province, South Korea(Governer: Nam, Kyung Pil) stated that the 10th Korea International Boat Show 2017 (KIBS 2017) has closed its registration with 261 Companies and 1,607 booths, highest participation in its history, topping previous record from last year of 253 companies and 1,500 booths. To accommodate tremendous demand for participation beyond the registration deadline, KINTEX has optimized the space use and logistics of setting up to increase registration of 1,607 booths.

KIBS, co-hosted by GyeongGi Province and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries since 2008, has achieved International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO) Platinum membership Status, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) Approved International Event Status, and International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) membership status. Solidifying its position as top 3 boat shows of Asia recognized for public confidence both internally and externally, and as the top marine leisure industry show in Korea.


Among this rushing demand for participation of marine leisure industry, the most prominent point is rapid progress of the manufacturers in GyeongGi province. ‘AlloyMarine’ in Namyangju city, gained popularity and support with advanced design and ‘JS Marine’ in Hwasung city, specialized in anti-sink boats with focuses on safety and convenience, will introduce various new models such as eco-friendly, high efficiency aluminum boats for fishing, anti-sink boats, and amphibious boats.

In Addition, ‘HanKook Boat’ in Icheon city which has accumulated the leisure boat skills using FRP(Fiber Reinforced Plastics) material will be launching its boats on overseas market through KIBS 2017 for the first time.




Another highlight of the KIBS is participation of the biggest boat manufacturers in Korea. Often touted as the leader of luxury yacht life in Korea, Hyundai Yacht (in Hwasung City, CEO: Do, Soonki) is presenting a 52ft (16M) power yacht alongside various sizes of sailing yacht to catch the eyes of the yacht enthusiasts.

Boat Korea (CEO: Yoon, Juhyuk), whom operates 2 brick and mortar locations in Namyangju City and Hwasung City will be attending for the 3rd year in a row as a official sponsor of the KIBS. Boat Korea will be spearheading the show with the Cruiser rubber boat series (last year they sold out of the 40+ of this model on the show floor), half price event for the FRP fishing boat ‘Oceanmaster’, and prizes for operation license holders. There will also be other various events to welcome the attendees.


Various events are also being prepared. One of the pioneers of the Korean marine industries, Woosung IB (CEO Lee, HeeJae) will hold a fashion show for watersport apparel brand ‘Mistral’ during weekend days of the show. Woosung IB will also set up chances to experience their inflatable kayaks and SUP boards which are exported to 60+ countries around the world.

Additionally, the star of official KIBS TV programe ‘Let’s Go Boat Fishing’ (program popularized on leisure cable TV channels such as FishingTV, NollTV), Choi UnJeong, will be at the show conducting DVD signings, taking Photos, and other events.





Attendance from the big overseas buyers will also draw attention. Watski, Scandinavia’s foremost marine equipment wholesaler that operates 1200 retail fronts in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Germany will be represented by senior purchasing personnel.

Besides Watski, there will be purchasing personnel present from over 90 companies from 20 different countries. KIBS has selected them through rigorous vetting procedures to ensure quality development of new business opportunities with Korean manufacturers.
